Fountain Park, Batticaloa

A cute mini-park just beside Gandhi Park, the Fountain Park is relatively tranquil and unpopulated. The park was initially known as the Senior Citizen's Park, named after Swami Vipulanandar, who was a respected and valued Tamil Professor and a Hindu social reformer from the Eastern Province. A statue of him stands at the park in his memory. At the center of the park a fountain monument has been built in memory of ten soldiers who were killed in action during the First World War.
