Newly opened museum in the heart of Kattankudy, the most densely populated village in the island with the aim to preserve the heritage of the village as well as the Muslims of the country.
Although Islamic heritage is reflected at many of the exhibits, there are many common things that every one would like to see and learn.
Opened for public on 15th April 2015 and managed by the Archaeological Department. The 3-story building has a rich architecture and is nicely organized with exhibits worth of million dollars . The different models displayed in the museum exhibit the concepts clearly.
A collection of ancient goods, tools, weapons, household items, livelihood means, ceramics, etc. attract every visitor.
The top floor has been established like a resource centre with a small auditorium with 3-D video system and a library with lot of books, reading materials and displays that teach us the social, cultural, political and educational history of Sri Lanka in general and of Sri Lankan Muslims in particular.
