Kallady Beach, Batticaloa

The Kallady beach, covered with clean golden sand and a clear blue sea, is among the most magnificent beaches in Batticaloa. It’s situated at Saravana Road, at a distance of 3 km from Batticaloa town.Unlike other beaches in Batticaloa, Kallady beach is not so suitable for swimming unless you are a good swimmer. The wide sandy beach area makes it popular among the local residence of Batticaloa. The place is packed with visitors during the evenings especially during week ends and holidays. The long stretch of casuarina trees, picnic huts and the wooden walk way are the main attractions of Kallady beach

Enclosures with long stretches of casuarina trees compel you to take a relaxed walk along the beach. You could walk up to the adjoining Navalady beach or further ahead to witness the bar mouth  opening. While walking, you will feel the wind and waves take hold of your every sense. On your way stop by boat landing sites, talk to the fishermen, and witness the dealing between the vendors and the boat owners. Fishing activity is mostly during the morning time, while in the evenings you could see fishermen leaving the shore into the sea hoping to return the next morning with a good catch. Don't miss to capture the beauty of the eastern sunrise by visiting the beach during the early morning hours.
