Mahatma Gandhi Park, Batticaloa

The Mahatma Gandhi Park or more commonly known as 'Gandhi Park' was recently constructed along the Batticaloa lagoon in the heart of Batticaloa town. The park is one of the most visited places by local and foreign visitors and an ideal place for relaxation. Mahatma Gandhi park and it's surroundings are well maintained by the Municipal Council and tidy at all times. Fishermen in small canoes involved in lagoon fishing activities will be visible from the park and it is an ideal spot to witness the beautiful sunset during the evening hours. Batticaloa Gate, Rev. William Alt's statue and a tourist information center are also close by

Fishing is possible if you have your own fishing rod! Don’t forget to take some photos standing in front of the gold colored statue of Mahatma Gandhi and Batticaloa gate.There is a big LCD screen which telecasts important events such as when Sri Lanka is playing an International cricket match!!!
