Pasikudah Bay contains a shallow fringing coral reef towards the outer bay with scattered coral communities within the bay, which is one of the best-known reef systems in the east and has been proposed as a Marine Sanctuary by National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA). After the end of civil war, Pasikudah is fast becoming an investors hub as foreign and local investors have shown interest in developing tourism along the beach and several hotels are coming up along the beach site
