The Pasikuda Beach

Pasikuda is a coastal resort area located about 35 kilometers northwest of Batticaloa town. The clean & white sandy beach with shallow waters and coral reefs make Passikudah Bay a safe heaven for bathing, swimming and relaxing amongst locals and foreigners alike.

Pasikuda is known to have one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world and people can walk several hundred meters into the sea because the water is only a few inches deep. If you wish to learn swimming, Passikudah is the best and protected place. You have several options to choose - lay down on the beach and relax in peace & harmony, or enjoy a long walk along the beautiful unspoilt beach, or accompany your children play in the shallow waters or join your peers in swimming & playing water games or even have a boat ride.

Passikudah is popular destination for domestic tourists to spend their weekends and holidays with families and children.

Pasikudah Bay contains a shallow fringing coral reef towards the outer bay with scattered coral communities within the bay, which is one of the best-known reef systems in the east and has been proposed as a Marine Sanctuary by National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA). After the end of civil war, Pasikudah is fast becoming an investors hub as foreign and local investors have shown interest in developing tourism along the beach and several hotels are coming up along the beach site
