International Finance Corporation

The IFC is working with the private sector, government and World Bank to promote inclusive growth and private sector competitiveness in North and Eastern Sri Lanka. The project is aimed at supporting the transition from recovery to development in this region and bridging the gap with the more developed areas of the country. The IFC's support includes a focus on growth opportunities for micro, small and medium businesses, access to finance, improving the investment climate and other business support services in tourism and other sectors.

EU-Support for District Development Program

The EU SDDP is assisting the country make a transition from post-conflict assistance to reconstruction and development. This is done by supporting selected districts in North and East including some villages in neighboring districts, namely: Mannar, Vavuniya, Batticoloa and Ampara. The actions undertaken under this initiative are closely linked to three focus areas, namely: - Support to poverty reduction, provision of basic infrastructure and services for vulnerable populations: - Support to local economic development; and - Strengthening of the local governance
